Andrew Jaunutis (2018)

Andrew “AJ” Jaunutis first played Combined Basketball by representing SA at Randwick in 2003. He immediately made an impact as a dominant force, specialising playing in the high post, and with ferocious rebounding against the games greats.

He was a hardworking player, a deft passer and a spirited leader; who extolled the virtues of team basketball. He was selected as a Small Forward for the ADFBA Australian Team in 2003, 2004 and 2005. He went on to coach SA at the ADFBA Nationals and found his way onto the SADB Team, even when posted interstate.
As the SA State Representative, he organised sponsorship to rejuvenate combined team uniforms, rebuilt the women’s program and re-established the SADB Committee.  All of this was achieved during periods of significant change of personnel. He was instrumental in bringing the ADFBA National Championships to RAAF Edinburgh for the first time in 22 years.

Over 15 years AJ has contributed enormously to SADB and the ADFBA.

SGT Andrew Jaunutis (5th inductee) was inducted into the SADB Hall of Fame by FSGT Tim Muehlberg on Thu 29 Nov 18, during the conduct of the ADFBA National Championships at RAAF Edinburgh. In recognition of Andrew Jaunutis’ induction into the SADB Hall of Fame, the Eastern Stand within the RAAF Edinburgh gymnasium, is named the ‘Andrew Jaunutis stand.’
