TRANSFORMATIONAL CAMP 2014 ABURI/ACCRA

The commencement of Dynasty's 2014 camps kicked started on the beautiful Akuapem mountains in the cool breeze town of Aburi at the St. Michael's Youth Camp Hostel on the 27th July, 2014. Campers arrived in late afternoon and were quickly taken through orientation after which the official camp skills training commenced in the evening.

Throughout the rest of the week campers started each day in the early of hours of 5:30am with the spiritual growth session which involved campers studying the bible and discussing the lessons learnt. The session was led by Isaac Kwapong mostly known as coach Isaac. Morning workout followed immediately afterwards with campers going through dynamic and fun strength and conditioning excercises. Asides the technical basketball skills training campers went through, there was also the tactical skills sessions that got campers to think about when, and why to use various basketball skills in a team scenario. This helped them to build their Basketball I.Q which has been put a in great book Developing Basketball Intelligence (DBI) written by 2012 Camp Guest coach Brian McCormick from the USA.

The camp had some great highlights which had never been experienced in any of our past camps. One of them took place on the 30th July, 2014 in a village called Asenema located in the valleys of the Akuapem mountains. Campers and Staff committed themselves to serving and impacting the lives of student-athletes in the less privilaged village of Asenema by refurbishing a classroom, and also donating clothing, and food items. The money used for the service project at Asenema was raised from profits from camp signup fees paid by campers. At the end of the busy and fun day campers, staff, and the smiley student-athletes from the Asenema M/A Basic Dynasty Basketball had kicked started a new project which will now make up the core part of Dynasty Basketball's existence. The last highlight of the camp which was also a first at the camp was the Camp Awards Night which had parents of campers and guests in attendance. The night was organised and hosted by campers filled with acts and honors. All campers were honored and others received other individual honors, the biggest of them was the Most Transformed Player honor which went to Octave Kodjo for the boys category and Marylin Hammond for the girls category. First camp of 2014 was a great success Glory be to God and the great work and support of all our camp staff and parents of the campers and Mr. & Mrs. Fenuku who opened up the doors of St. Michael's Youth Camp Hostel for us to have a a great venue for our first 2014 camp.
