James Smith

Dear Clubs, Players, Managers, Officials and Friends of HCCF

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of James "Biff" Smith, our beloved President and Life Member. Biff passed away yesterday after a courageous battle with illness.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to his loving wife Bronwynn, daughters, and his extended family. We offer our deepest sympathy and support as they mourn this profound loss.

Biff's dedication to our association was second to none, even the day before his passing we were passionately discussing the future of our association. He passionately believed in using football to expose players to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. His vision was to create not just skilled athletes, but that individuals could have a place to grow their faith and character.

Biff joined HCCF Management in 2005 with a brief year of leave for health reasons in 2015 and returned in 2016.

Discipline Officer from 2005 – 2008
Fixtures Officer from 2009 – 2011
Vice President from 2012 – 2014
Vice President from 2016 – 2019
President from 2020 – 2024

While we grieve his loss, we take comfort in knowing that Biff is now with our Lord, whom he served so faithfully. His legacy of faith, sportsmanship, and community service will continue to inspire us all.

We ask that you respect the family's privacy during this period of grief.

Details regarding the funeral service will be shared when available.

On Saturday 20th July we ask that all teams honour Biff with a minute’s silence at the start of each game and by wearing a black armband.

Rest in peace, Biff. You will forever remain in our hearts and on our playing fields.

Yours in Christ,

Sam Iuliano (Vice President)
