Return to Basketball Update 17 June 2020

We are thrilled to inform you that our long awaited recommencement of basketball is upon us. The recent easing of COVID 19 restrictions means that our basketball programs can begin returning from next week.

Whilst we are very excited to have basketball back again, everyone needs to know it will not be the same as it was. There will be strict guidelines that each of us will need to adhere to. Physical distancing, hygiene requirements, limits on spectators and shorter training times are just some of the requirements. More specific guidelines will be provided separately. We ask that you all do your bit to make our return to the sport a success.

Below is a timeline for our expected return to basketball for each of our programs (subject to final confirmation from the State Government and Basketball Victoria). With a reduced winter season there will also be more information to follow regarding possible fee reductions and details on how you may want to donate to the club during this challenging time.

EDJBA Saturday Junior Domestic Competition

Competition is expected to resume in the first week of third term (except for under 19s). Training to start in the week commencing Monday July 13 with the first round of competition on Saturday July 18 (July 25 for under 19s). Domestic team lists will be sent out during the school holidays, along with training schedules. We are also planning to provide some free additional training available to domestic players over the upcoming holidays.

VJBL Friday Junior Representative Competition

Training to resume next week (information about interim training schedule to be advised shortly) and will run throughout the holidays. Competition is scheduled to resume on Friday July 17 (Under 21s on July 24 subject to State Government confirmation).

Beginners Programs and Access All Abilities

We are planning to recommence all of our Beginner and AAA Programs at the start of next term.

Big V

Training is to recommence next week and run through the holidays. Revised training schedules will be sent out shortly to accommodate the new restrictions. Big V season details are not known yet.

Holiday Programs

The club is exploring a range of offerings that will be available to our players over the holiday break.

Senior Domestic Competition

We are planning to recommence our Senior Domestic (Sunday and Monday night) competitions in late July subject to State Government confirmation, and will advise further details when available.

I would like to thank all of our loyal members for their patience, understanding and support during this time. Whilst we are not entirely through the challenges of the pandemic it will be wonderful to have basketballs bouncing again inside our venues.

Go All Stars!

That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
