Round 13 Preview
The penultimate round of the home and away season. How time flies so quickly!!! Round 13 is a split round.
In the first half held on August 1 out at Malabar at Pioneer Park, the Bondi Shamrocks will host the Newtown Breakaways. Back in round 1, the Breakaways awakened from their half time slumber to pour on 10 goals in the 3rd quarter to win by 56 points. The only guarantee is that the difference between the two sides will be much closer than that! With both sides recording some good wins breaking the century mark (Newtown almost the double century!) this game will be who is best adept at shutting tdown the attacking prowess of the other team.
The second game will be held at Olds Park, Penshurst where the Balmain Dockers visit the St George Dragons. Local home knowledge may assist the Dragons at their training ground whilst the Dockers have been on a hot streak. With pressure for the double chance spot (1st or 2nd) at a premium I expect the Dockers to be on all guns firing.
In the second half of August 8 at Mahoney, Sydney University take on Macquarie University in the development game before the Combined SWAFL Rookies take on the USA Freedom Team. To finish off round 13, Easts hosts Wests in the Compass Cup at the Saturday twilight game at Village Green. The Stingrays always fire up for the Compass Cup and I expect no differently this year however the Wolves look eager to continue to retain the cup for another year.
