At 9am at Mahoney, League Leaders Newtown take on the improving third placed Balmain Dockers. Last time under Friday Night Lights in monsoon conditions the Breakaways had prevailed over the Dockers by 23 points. Last week results have shown that no team is undefeatable and will be a great clash to saviour.
The head to head sees Newtown 12 wins, Balmain 3 wins
The 11am match sees the Bondi Shamrocks host Sydney University. With both teams locked on 16 pts, it's really an 8 point game behtween both clubs. For the winner a chance to get third place depending on results of the first game or consolidate 4th place. For the loser, the path to semi-final redemption just becomes a little bit harder. As this is the first clash between the two teams it should prove to be an match notable as four of the Shamrocks players were alumni of the Bombers. I am sure the Bombers will welcome back Kate "Rowdy" Lancaster, Lara Creber, Annie-Rose Phillips and Lizzie Gavaghan with open arms (more like tackles).
The 1pm sees the development match between Wests and Macquarie University. As both sides had played together last week against St George, it should be a great game to see in progress. Macquarie University are developing and had plenty of forward ball against St George.
The final game at 3pm sees UNSW-Easts hosting St George. The Stingrays sometimes put on sublime passages of play but need to put it all the time if they are to defeat St George. The Dragons should be full of confidence after disposing of Sydney University and their key to victory will be converting their behinds/goals ratio.
The head to head sees St George 5 wins, Easts 1 win.
Here's to an injury-free weekend!
