Friday night sees the second Friday night of the season played at Mahoney at 7pm between the Bondi Shamrocks and UNSW-Easts Stingrays. Both sides will be looking to play football at night. Last weekend the Bondi Shamrocks recorded their first win in the league whilst Easts were courageous against St. George. In the last night game, the dewy surface meant that crumbing off the ground became a key skill area and I expect nothing less this Friday night.
The Head to Head record is yet to be established.
Saturday sees a consecutive home game at 12pm Olds Park where St George take on Mac Uni in the demonstration match at 12pm.
Two other matches at Mahoney completes the round where at noon the Balmain Dockers take on Sydney University. Both sides are travelling nicely however last weekend, with both teams suffering a hiccup, they will be fired up to get back on season's track.
The Head to Head record is Sydney Uni 12, Balmain 10
The final match sees the undefeated Newtown Breakaways take on the premiers the Western Wolves. With their fast starts, the Breakaways will be looking to score early points whilst the Western Wolves have shown verstality around their field. It'll be a great ruck contest between Natalie Redford of the Breakaways and basketball representative Georgia Woodyard.
The Head to Head record is Newtown 15, Wests 7.
Conclusion: Now six of the seven teams have won at least a game which is fantastic for the league. It means that every game should be considered an even contest with unpredictability the catchword in SWAFL circles. The teams that win are the teams that are prepared to win the ball.
