Destination USA

SA Country Basketball is pleased to announce a re-introduction of a USA Tour for one male and female team representing SA Country.  The USA Tour, 4th-19th December 2019, will feature games and special highlights (NBA, NCAA NHL/NFL pending schedule) in Dallas (Dallas Cowboys Tour), Raleigh, Charlotte and Ahaheim (Disneyland).

We recognise that we need to provide other development opportunities that prepare and compliment the current programs and events as not everything can be achieved in the confines of SA.  The exposure and experience from and outbound international tour can assist in preparing and inspiring players and officials for/in the future.

We have engaged NPIRE a reputable domestic and international registered travel agent and Basketball Australia, USA Basketball and USA Schools recognised tour sponsor.  NPIRE has worked with many Member States, Associations, Clubs and Schools to provide a fun, enjoyable and rewarding tour experience.  We are confident with the support of NPIRE, players and officials will benefit from a unique development opportunity that will provide lasting memories and friendships.

In addition, we have developed an Outbound International Tour Guideline that complies with Basketball Australia requirements and provides information relating to selection, compliance, logistics, security and risk management.  This guideline will be made available on our mediums and is applicable to SA Country teams that are considering an outbound tour.

Sam Woosnam from NPIRE, will attend the training schedule on the 8th December 2018 to provide further information to players and parents that are eligible to express an interest in the tour.  We will advise of information session/s times once confirmed.

Sam as most of you may know, played for West Adelaide, the Adelaide Lightning (Championship Captain) and Dandenong Rangers in the WNBL (is a WNBL Life Member), is an AIS Basketball graduate and is currently Head Coach of Kilsyth Basketball Women (was Basketball Victoria Coach of the Year) in the newly formed Victorian Elite League (previously competed in SEABL).  These are only a few of Sam’s notable achievements and Sam has worked tirelessly with us to ensure a great and safe experience for future tours.

We are very pleased to providing this opportunity again for our players and officials and believe we have taken the necessary steps to ensure a rewarding and positive experience.  We look forward to supporting Sam at NPIRE in providing further information on the 8th December.

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
