Andrew Thomson (Mal) President 2017-2020

As you may be aware Mal did not renominate for the President’s position at the expiry of his term. We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and recognise Mal’s contribution and achievements as President. Mal has led SA Country Basketball through some challenging times, many of which you would be aware. We have made significant progress under his leadership, in accordance with our strategic plan, this is evident with an increase in membership and the quality of our services and programs we now provide to our members. During his presidency there has been a focus on building capacity within the Associations to ensure sustainability, growth and improved coach, player and referee development. We have become leaders in a number of areas and that is a credit to Mal’s ability to embrace and support the opportunities that have presented themselves. We have made progress towards the implementation of a new Constitution, policies and procedures and, established an ability to adapt to a more fluid environment. Mal has been influential in all of these achievements and we thank him for his guidance, support and valuable time. We hope you enjoy the extra time you will now have to spend with your family and with your business.

Nikki Ireland Council Executive Member (RS Far North 2019-2020, Referee Advisor 2020), Referee Regional Coordinator (RRC) West 2019-2020

It is with regret that we advise Nikki has resigned from her position as Referee Advisor on the Council Executive and RRC West this week. We would like to acknowledge and recognise the contribution Nikki has made to SA Country Basketball. Nikki’s legal expertise and achievements as an elite Referee were invaluable in the positions she held with the Council Executive and as an RRC. We take comfort from Nikki offering to remain involved, when time permits, to assist in the development of our sub elite Referees. During Nikki’s tenure we have been able to review the structure of our management of Referees and appoint three volunteer RRC’s, to develop Referee Coach Educators, to enable Associations to conduct community education and development for Referees. We thank you for your valuable time and hope you enjoy a less demanding schedule.
