Lightsview Update – We have momentum, and almost lift-off!
Exciting news from the Port Adelaide Enfield Council meeting held recently.
Within their minutes reveal that they are going to:
• Formally purchase the land.
• The Council CEO is to apply for State Grant for the project.
• The anticipated $18M project cost will be incorporated into the Council Business Plan and budget process.
• Council is to commence the process to sell Hillcrest.
The last point is huge for us, as it means that Council must work to provide us an alternate home. It would appear that we are on track to move to the Lightsview location sooner, rather than later.
Over recent months we have met with Council and BSA several times, and there is now a dedicated project team within Council devoted to the project. On that team are two people who are very sympathetic to basketball, which is clearly a plus for us.
Jason Smith and I continue our joint meetings with Council and BSA, and can see that we are moving in the right direction.
