With his 200th game this week, we take a closer look at Premier League Captain (and all round good guy) Tom Rowe and his history with North Adelaide Basketball Club. If you only see one Premier League game this year, this is the one. Come and support Tom and the team in their BIG game v West Adelaide, who include 36er Peter Crawford in their line-up. Last time they met (at Port Adelaide) it was a 6 point win to the Bearcats, but the Rocket boys are at home this time and are looking to end a mid-season losing streak. You being there could make the difference !!!!!

Have always worn number 8. It was the only one free (that I liked) when I joined NABC at Under 10’s.
When was the first time you played organised basketball for a North Adelaide Team ?
Played my first game for NABC Under 10’s back in 1995 !!!!!
Who was your favourite player growing up ?
Larry Bird – Can’t run, can’t jump’ can’t shoot, but a great player.
How many games/seasons have you played Premier League ?
I play my 200th game this week (4th July v West). First game for the ABA (as it was known then) was 2005.
How many times a week do you do something to improve your basketball (eg trainings, shooting, running, lifting weights) ?
Usually 3 to 4 times a week, with a couple of trainings, weights (time permitting), and game day shooting.
What advice would you give to a current U18 player if they aspired to play in the Premier League ?
Take the time to learn the systems the Premier League team play. Go to a few trainings and watch. Ask questions. Think about what position/role that you would play and watch players already in that role to pick up exactly what they do. Learn from the players playing now and don’t be afraid to ask questions.
What is your favourite part of playing Premier League ?
Playing with mates, many of whom I have known since junior grades.
What is your least favourite part ?
Late night trainings in the middle of winter.
What hobbies/interests do you have away from basketball ?
Music (all sorts), listening and trying to play.
Relaxing with friends, and a red wine is nice.
If you were stranded on a desert island and you could choose 2 team mates to be there with you, who would they be and why ?
Brett Collins as he is a handyman and would be able to build me a boat.
Handsome John as he can do the heavy lifting, so I can relax.
Plus I already live with these two so it seems easier.
Which player in the NABC Men’s Premier League Team has the worst fashion sense ?
Brett Collins – he knows why !!
