Dear ACJBC Directors
I just wanted to thank you for the recognition at the closing ceremony and congratulate you all on another great event.

I had a good chance to think about the event on the drive home and realised how important the Cup has become in so many ways to country basketball in Australia. It is the barometer that we use annually to judge the health of our respective state programs. The results, whether good or bad, tend to motivate us to go back to our states and associations and improve so that we can lift more trophies the following year. Attending the Cup is the way we reward our volunteer's, it's a major reason that they do the work they do all year.

Unfortunately I wouldn't have been able to talk at the ceremony with out getting emotional. But if I had of I would have reflected on the life long friendships and the memories that it has provided my family and I. My father has managed teams at Cup, I have played and coached, my wife has managed teams and all four of my children have played. Hopefully my new born grand son can give the Foy's the fourth generation of Cup attendees!!!

Generally we don't take the time to celebrate our successes, but I encourage you to sit back and have a think about the impact you and the previous directors have had in the development of our game and give yourselves a little pat on the back. You have been great custodians of our game and will leave a long lasting legacy.

I'm amazed at how an event that has changed very little over the years never seems to get old.
