As part of the Palau NOC objective to assist in strengthening the roles of member national federations, the NOC with Belau Baseball Federation (BBF) coordinated efforts to host the Belau Baseball Federation annual meeting and general assembly on June 18th. The Belau Baseball Federation invited key baseball players, coaches, officials and supporters of baseball all over Palau for an all day baseball general meeting organized by Palau Major League and facilitated by Palau National Olympic Committee. Many baseball veterans attended the all day meeting, with President Toribiong opening the general assembly meeting thanking those who attended the meeting for supporting and confirming the support of the national government toward baseball and sports programs in Palau. The highlight and the expectation of this general meeting was to talk about baseball, its programs and how we can best formalize baseball and improve in the field and outside of the field. The Palau NOC executive members, also presented to members the introduction of the NOC and its programs, IOC solidarity awareness programs , athletes preparation, coaches and officials. The participants shared their thoughts of what was baseball, and what is baseball and what baseball needs to improve for the future. The participants were able to identify some of the baseball weaknesses and what avenues can be taken to overcome some of the challenges. In the afternoon, the members and the present participants, including officers of the Palau Major League, along with umpires and current new elected officers of Belau Baseball Federation the overall umbrella for baseball programs in Palau are: Mr. Temmy Shmull, President, 1st Vice President is PML President, 2nd Vice President – Umpire Association, 3rd Vice President is Patrick Martin who was elected by the members to oversee the 18th and Under baseball program, two director – Mr. Tony Blaluk and Ernest Ito, and the appointment of Rodean Toribiong Smus was for Secretary/Treasurer of the federation, until the formal organization of the board to elect someone for the Secretary/Treasurer position. The Belau Baseball Federation and Palau Major League have appointed Mr. Radley Kazuma as the Baseball Development Officer to be based at the Palau NOC Office.
