The first gold medals of the 2021 13th Belau National Games was garnered by the Ngatpang Men’s Team and the Ngaraard Women’s Team in the 3x3 Basketball event concluded on Saturday, June 5, 2021.
The 3x3 Basketball event started on June 4th utilizing the courts at Spider Gym, where games were fast, intense, and by time and points as well. This type of sports is the new norm where the game provides opportunity for a smaller number of players per team but attracts more teams to participate.
The game is decided within limited time of 10 to 15 minutes per game at a half court, or which team achieves the set points first. At this 3x3 Basketball event, one can see the intense move and great skills of young players come to life and displayed at the court. It is exciting and impressive to see exceptional sportsmanship skills in the court by our youth and young players. The event offered opportunity for young players as young as 12 years old to 40-plus years of age representing their States’.
The organizing committee extend congratulations to Bars Williams for her leadership as the tournament director for the Basketball Event, as well as to her officials and volunteers, all young people, with the guidance and support from Palau Basketball Federation. A huge shout out to PNCC for their support on the project display and management of the score board during the games.
