The American Olympian speed skater makes a short visit to Palau through sports and cultural exchange program from the United States Embassy and in collaboration with the Palau National Olympic Committee. Brian Hansen is from Evanston, Illinois is an American Speed Skater and Silver medalist of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. Hansen just finished competing in his 3rd Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang Korea last month, where he placed 15th in his race and holds the 13th position on the men’s Adelskalender big combination.
On February 27th 2018, Hansen visited the Palau National Olympic Committee Office and met Palau Olympians where they shared Olympic experience and life in sports and outside of sports. Hansen started skating when he was 8 years old and at age 16 started his high level competitions in the US, including World Championships and 3 Winter Olympic Games. Hansen is 27years old and his very happy to visit Palau and to meet other Olympians. Hansen and our Palau Olympians will be visiting local schools this week to share their experiences and what it’s like to prepare for the Olympic Games and be in the Olympic Games representing your hometown and country with other athletes around the world.
