Palau Team at the 2015 Pacific Games OPENING CEREMONY

After years of preparation by Papua New Guinea and the region, Team Palau joined the hundreds of athletes around the pacific region on the marching to the opening ceremony on the 15th Pacific Games in the Nation’s Capital, Port Moresby. Pacific Games events began on 3rd of July and will continue until July 18th 2015. Weightlifting Olympic Scholarship holder, Stevick Patris was the Flag Bearer for Palau. When asked about what would be his introduction to the opening ceremony as the Palau flag bearer, he said “I only want my father, late father Steven Patris to be recognized as he is the reason I am where I am now”. Stevick has won numerous gold medal for Palau in the weightlifting event and in the year 2014 at the Pacific Cup Weightlifting Championship in New Caledonia he won 1 Gold medal in the category of 69KG. Mr. Stevick home is the Oceania Weightlifting Institute in New Caledonia where he has been training at the high performance institute under the guidance of Mr. Paul Coffa and a proud recipient of the Olympic Scholarships for Athletes “Rio de Janeiro2016” for the Republic of Palau. Team Palau will participate in Table Tennis (July 3rd – 10th), Swimming (July 6th – 12th), Weightlifting (July 6th 2015) and Athletics (July 13th -17th ).
