Palau National Olympic Committee has prepared a delegation of athletes, coaches, and team officials to represent Palau in the 15th Pacific Games to be held in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea from 4-18 July 2015. The Pacific Games is not only a competition of sport, but an exchange of culture and Olympic Values that are the driving force of the Olympic Movement.
The 15th Pacific Games consist of 28 varied sports and disciplines with 21 neighboring countries to participate in the event. The countries include American Samoa, Australia, Cook Islands, Federated State of Micronesia, Fiji, French Polynesia/Tahiti, Guam, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Niue, Norfolk Island, Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon, Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu and Wallis and Futuna. With a recent announcement made in July this year at Pacific Games Authority General Assembly meeting in Port Moresby, Australia and New Zealand will now be participating in the Games for the first time according to the Pacific Games website news. Team Palau will be concentrating on four individual sports which include Athletics, Swimming, Weightlifting, and Table Tennis. The team is proposed to leave on June 28th 2015 and will return on July 20th 2015 after the closing ceremony on July 18th 2015.
