2010 Micronesian Games "Green Games Concept"
As part of the preparation to the 7th Micronesian Games, the organizing commitee is adopting 7 initiatives to Keep the Games Green. The following are the Green Games Concept:
“Keeping it Green”
a. Save Energy - Reducing Carbon emissions: The Games Village will be located at Palau Community College, therefore, saving costs of transportation and reducing carbon emissions because 75% of sports facilities are within walking distance of the Games Village.
b. Save Energy – Reduce, Recycle and Reuse – Games Cafeteria will use only environment friendly materials for meals of the games. Absolute Campaign Effort for “No Plastic Games”.
c. Recycling Bins and Recycling Promotion Messages at all Games Venue.
d. Join In – I am a Volunteer 1st Program – Host with Palau Culture and Hospitality at its Best and Win.
e. Maximize the Resources we have from Infrastructure to our natural resources as well as the people in our community – and we’ll deliver a game that is unique to us and to Micronesia – based on our theme “Tia De Prerii” – in translation “We will make it Happen”.
f. Be Responsible and Own the Games – The Games Organizing Committee has also prepared a sponsorship and partnership tier for key businesses, organizations, and individuals in our community and throughout Micronesia, for everyone to be involved at different levels and aspects of delivering the game.
g. Sports and Environment – providing a Green environment in the lead up to the games (tree planting and other plants around games venues and throughout our community for a Greener Environment.
