ROUND EIGHTEEN: Forestville Eagles vs Norwood Flames

WOMEN by Kieren Vartuli

Fighting for their season to continue, the Norwood Flames make a trip to Wayville and the Forestville Eagles! The 7th place Flames are both points and percentage behind the Tigers but a variety of results may allow the odds to be in their favour. Coming off back-to-back wins and the Sabres struggling recently has allowed them to comfortably regain the top spot. The last time the Eagles were in action they toppled and embarrassed the Tigers with a 3-26 final term. Defensively, the Eagles picked the pockets of Southern an astounding 10 times and will look to have the same presence against the Flames. With their season hanging in the balance, the Flames need to make the most of each contest and they did not do this last weekend with a loss to South Adelaide. The last time these sides met, the Eagles extinguished the Flames quite easily with a 71-49 victory at the ARC. Gabriela Vidmar led all scoring with a game high 20-points and flirted with a double-double in the process (8-rebounds). Unless the problems faced against the Panthers last week are rectified, the Flames may just be having an early offseason.

Hang Time prediction – Forestville Eagles

MEN by Daniel Renfrey

Second vs Fourth on the ladder, this game is set to be as exciting as a game can get. Forestville will be well rested after their bye last week. Their team has many weapons and if they can all get going, it might be a long night for Norwood. They’ll be hard to stop on offence, so Norwood will need to match them with a high calibre offence of their own. Brine, Lycett, Legan, Moultrie and Andrew Webber all combined for 86 points in their 96-83 win over South Adelaide last round, showing just how dangerous their share-happy offence can be. Their defence was also in great shape, suffocating South Adelaide shooters and accumulating six blocks and 10 steals. The Flames will have to lessen the threat of a couple Eagles players, namely Deng, if they want to get a win. However, this will be easier said than done and if the Eagles can’t prevent Norwood from also executing on offence, this game may be extremely close. Forestville off a break at home may just be too tough a task for the Flames however.
