ROUND EIGHTEEN : South Adelaide Panthers vs North Adelaide Rockets

WOMEN by Kieren Vartuli

In a cross-town battle, the Rockets visit Marion and look to pressure the Warriors for their 8th position. After dropping both of their back-to-backs in Round 17, South Adelaide have the opportunity to seal the series over North after downing them earlier this year 68-85. The last time they met, the Rockets couldn’t contain McKendrick, Saunders and Smith who combined for fifty-seven-points alone. After having a poor night by her standards in Round 17 against the Pioneers, Mollie McKendrick will be out to redeem herself and unfortunately, the Rockets are in her path. North Adelaide struggled to stop Carmen Tyson-Thomas and Brooke Basham in their last meeting and having players with scoring prowess in McKendrick and Saunders, North will struggle to defend the paint. Don’t be surprised if McKendrick racks up another 20+ points. With the chances of finals fading for the Rockets and the season over for South Adelaide, both sides will be fighting for bragging rights and pride.

Hang Time Prediction - South Adelaide Panthers

MEN by Daniel Renfrey

The Panthers put up a decent effort against the Flames away from home over the weekend, but ultimately did not have enough offensive firepower to come away with an upset. The team played good defence, stealing the ball six times and forcing the Flames into tough shots. They turned the ball over too many times themselves though, and could not give much help to Allmon, who had 23 points and 21 rebounds. The Rockets on the other hand played tough against the Mavericks. Their 85-80 win was a credit to their work on defence, with nine steals and good coverage. Their key players were also strong, McVeigh posting 24 points and eight assists, Starling putting up 27 points and 11 rebounds, and Dowdell recording 14 points 13 rebounds and three assists. This should be an interesting matchup but the Panthers shouldn’t be able to stop North Adelaide’s offensive threats.
