ROUND TWENTY: South Adelaide Panthers v Eastern Mavericks

Last weekend, after falling to the Bearcats Saturday night, the Mavs ground out a 2-point Overtime victory against the Warriors on the road the next afternoon. South Adelaide on the other hand had the lone contest against Centrals on Saturday and really showed the difference between them and the bottom placed Lions with a 33-point win.
Two of the many best offensive players in McKendrick and Tyson-Thomas will face off this weekend in what may just be scoring clinic. Averaging just under 17-points per game (with the strong ability to score more) and just over 28-points respectively, the chances are these players finding the bottom of the net is high. Ball movement will be a key to victory for the Panthers dishing off an astounding 27-dimes against Centrals while the Mavs only totalled 37 over two games.

The Panthers were unlucky not to get a better result over the weekend, going down to Central Districts 87-91. The team was in the game for the full four quarters, but lacked the cutting edge and offensive execution to pull off an upset win. Allmon and Jonnek were each impressive on both ends of the floor, while the team’s role players also chipped in. The Mavericks, on the other hand, did manage to get a win in Round 19, defeating the Bearcats by six. However, they also lost a tight one in dramatic fashion on Sunday, when Woodville’s Boonstoppel banked in a buzzer-beating three to hand them a three-point loss. They will want to player better offence than they did on Sunday, but can be forgiven as it was on a back-to-back. If Cherry and Morris can combine well and their team can play solid defence they should be able to beat the bottom side in South Adelaide.
