The final Youth Girls Academy session was held for the 2009 squad was held last night at the MCG.
Lindsay Gilbee Elite Kicking School Scholarship holders, Tess Butler and Nicola Stevens, shared what they've learnt with the playing squad. The girls worked on stationary kicking as well as kicking on the run, analysing each Academy member's technique. In their first effort as coaches, both Tess and Nicola, captivated the squad with their new found wisdom.
The umpires spent the night analysing how they could assist in getting a female umpire in the VFL ranks. Led by AFL Victoria's Umpiring Development Manager, Neville Nash, the girls targeted areas that the Academy could work on in future years to develop promising field umpires to make to the elite VFL ranks.
