St Kilda Sharks Brianna Davey has become the second VWFL No.1 draft pick, when the Western Bulldogs selected her today in the AFL Women’s Exhibition Game mini draft today at AFL House.
The Melbourne Victory goal keeper joins Darebin Falcon Daisy Pearce as the only players to hold the No.1 mantle.
For Davey though, it has been a quick rise from the St Kilda Sharks to the Bulldogs.
After the disappointment of being overlooked for the Matildas World Cup squad earlier this year, she joined the St Kilda Sharks where she has played seven games debuting in Round 5 against Darebin Falcons.
She will join Shark teammates Brit Bonnici and Jenna Bruton in the August 16 AFL Women’s Game rematch, with Bonnici and Bruton to line up for the undefeated Melbourne side.
Melbourne selected four VWFL players with its five selections, also recruiting Diamond Creek tall Tiarna Ernst and Darebin Falcon Jess Dal Pos.
It will be a change of jumpers for the Demons pair of Dal Pos and Bruton after both were selected by Western Bulldogs in the inaugural draft back in 2013.
