Selection to play for Victoria for the first time is a thrill for any player.
The history of the famed Victorian jumper, playing and training with some of the best players in the competition as well as representing your state is a great honour.
Add to that the opportunity to captain the side in your first game in the Big V, and the feeling is unbelievable.
That was the case Eastern Devils Hannah Scott, who received double the good news this week as she was announced the Victoria 2 captain to lead the state against NSW this Sunday at ME Bank Centre at Punt Road Oval.
“It was a pretty unreal feeling to be announced captain, it's my first VIC game and to be running out as captain makes it even more special,” Scott said.

The captaincy will be her first time in the role, having previously been vice captain at Hallam before she progressed to Premier Division with Eastern Devils.
Scott realises how lucky she is to be given an opportunity to lead and represent the state, and is looking forward to playing with the high calibre of players selected in the side.
“It's such an honour to wear the VIC jumper, so many players go through their entire career without getting to pull it on and I am so thankful I get to,” she said.
“I am looking forward to playing with some of my amazing Devil team mates but also getting to play with some girls I normally line up against is always a nice change.
“Lauren Brazzale (Diamond Creek) tore it up against us (Devils) last time we played them at club level so I'm excited to run out alongside her.
“I haven't seen Mel Kuys (Knox) play all that much but I have heard nothing but good things so I'm excited to see what she can do.”
It has been a rapid rise up the ranks for Scott over recent years, not only picked in the Victorian team, but also drafted by the Western Bulldogs for the two AFL Women’s Exhibition games.
Just three years ago Scott questioned whether she was up to the standard of representative football when asked to trial for the annual Country/Metro VWFL clash while playing for Hallam.
Persistence and confidence in her own ability has now paid off for the Devils midfielder.
“I was just not overly confident with where I was at (with my football), but I really wanted to improve and play at a higher level,” Scott said.
“It can be a hard thing to put yourself out into the world of getting constantly critiqued and possibly being told you didn't make the cut.
“But you just have to remember it's all to make you a better player and able to play a better brand of football.
We look forward to Scott adding another representative honour to her football resume this weekend.
