The Victorian Women’s Football League is pleased to announce the support of two major partners in season 2014.
With the action underway on the field, two organisations will lend their support off the field as the competition expands this season with increased teams and divisions.
The Melbourne Football Club has renewed its support of women’s football and the VWFL for season 2014.
Melbourne will once again field a side against the Western Bulldogs on Saturday, June 28,in the second women’s football game to be played this year at Etihad Stadium as a curtain raiser to the Melbourne versus Western Bulldogs AFL game.
The club was a major supporter of the recent ANZAC Day triple header at Shepley Oval to launch the season. Melbourne recruit Viv Michie was a guest speaker on the day, and the Melbourne women’s team recruiters were on hand to cast their eyes over the Draft selection game to help decide who they will pick at the second female draft on May 19.
Joining the competition for the first time as a partner is the CFA. The CFA are no strangers to AFL Victoria, having previously supported the VFL as a community partner.
This year the CFA joins the VWFL as a new major partner, with a focus on the career opportunities for women as CFA firefighters.
AFL Victoria appreciates the support of both these major partners in season 2014, and welcomes them on board for what will be an exciting year of women’s football.
