Last Weekly Wrap of 2025
Not much rest for our top college players and those in the professional ranks:
NCAA Division I
Julius Halaifonua scored 19 points but couldn’t prevent Georgetown from suffering an 80-77 loss to Xavier in Big East Conference play. The former Rosmini College and Harbour standout followed that with 20 points and 8 rebounds in a 97-67 win against Coppin State.
Tom Beattie had 14 points and 7 rebounds as UC San Diego slipped to an 82-80 loss to local rivals San Diego.
Florence Dallow scored 11 points and gave 4 assists as Portland secured a 98-53 win over Portland State.
Hawaii University freshman Bailey Flavell scored 10 points in a 67-58 win v Liberty and followed that with 11 points in a 72-56 loss to Montana State.
Jess Moors scored 9 points and added 6 rebounds as Florida Atlantic edged a 60-57 win against Florida International.
Zoe Richardson had season highs in points (6) and assists (5) as USC Upstate thumped Agnes Scott 112-39.
NCAA Division II
Hannah Wentworth scored a season high 26 points – making 5 from 10 threes – as Lynn University went down 73-63 to Bowie State.
Charlie Dalton scored 12 points as Florida Southern eased to a comfortable 116-70 win against Lees-McRae.
NCAA Division III
Jacob Fotu had a nice stat line of 15 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and a brace of steals as Whitman College dominated Northwest Indian to win 107-55..
In the Pro’s.
Former Harbour standouts Sam Waardenburg and Sam Mennenga went head to head in the Australian NBL and it was Sam W that emerged with winners grin after a 99-95 victory.
Sam M added a career high 5 assists to 24 points and 8 rebounds with Sam W posting a near triple-double of 16 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists.
Isaac Fotu totalled a team high 21 points, on 9 from 11 shooting, to help Utsunomiya Brex to a 96-82 victory over Chiba Jets in the Japanese League.
Also in the Japanese League Yanni Wetzell also produced a team hig effort (20 points) as Akita Northern Happinets went down 69-57 to Abaraki Robots.
In the Japanese League third tier Dan Fotu scored 14 points, for the second game running, as Gifu Swoops were beaten 83-69 by Kagawa Five Arrows.
James Moors came close to his career high as, on 11 from 15 shooting, he posted 26 points (and 11 rebounds) for Traiskirchen Lions in a 90-86 win against Klosterneuburg in the Austrian League.
