SPOTSWOOD young gun Isabella Grant has been picked in the 2018 NAB AFL Women’s Level 1 Academy squad, after impressing talent managers this season.
Grant, the daughter of Western Bulldogs champion Chris, is one of 44 players to receive a NAB AFL Women’s Academy scholarship.
Grant is set to be a part of accelerated footy and personal development camps over the next 12 months.
The talented rising star played 10 games for Spotswood’s Under-18 Girls team this season, including playing in the Grand Final.
She kicked 12 goals from her 10 games and was named in the best on five occasions.
Grant also played four games for the Western Jets in the inaugural TAC Cup Girls competition earlier this year.
Last year, she was a part of Spotswood’s Under-15 premiership team and claimed the WRFL's Under-15 Girls Best and Fairest award.
The Academy squads will be overseen by AFL Women’s Female Talent Operations Manager Aasta O’Connor as well as Renee Forth and Ahmed Saad.
Premiership player and AFLW Best and Fairest winner Erin Phillips from the Adelaide Crows is also a performance coach.
O’Connor said the squads were selected by AFL and state talent managers following the 2017 AFL Women’s Under-18 Championships.
“The success of the inaugural Academy can be seen with 11 players being added to AFLW lists at the recent NAB AFL Women’s Draft,” she said.
The squad will take part in their first camp in December. The squad will travel to the Michael Long Learning and Leadership Centre in Darwin.
