THE WRFL wishes sincere condolences to the Murphy family after the passing of Lindsay Murphy.
Lindsay was a decorated player and coach of the Parkside Football Club. He won a club Best and Fairest in 1965 and was the premiership coach and captain in 1967.
Lindsay coached various Parkside teams during his tenure with his beloved Magpies and in the process coached their Under-13 and Under-15 teams to premiership victories.
In 1984, Lindsay coached the Footscray District Football League Under-17 representative team. In the same year he was awarded Life Membership of the League.
Lindsay was also a two-time premiership player and life member of the Williamstown Football Club.
He played in back-to-back premierships with the Seagulls in 1958 and 1959. He played 125 games with Williamstown, kicking 146 goals.
Earlier this year Lindsay was named in the Seagulls’ 1960 Team of the Decade.
The league administration and the wider WRFL community’s thoughts are with the Murphy family.
