CAROLINE Springs star Brian Lake and Spotswood’s newest recruit Adam Cooney will team-up this Friday night, with the duo representing the All Stars in the Chemist Warehouse EJ Whitten Legends Game.
Lake and Cooney will be joined by a host of former AFL stars, including Luke Darcy and Wayne Carey in the annual clash. The Victorian team will be led by Brisbane champion Jonathon Brown.
The Legends Match began more than 20 years ago at Whitten Oval, before moving to its new home at Etihad Stadium.
The match honours the legacy of EJ Whitten, a revered figure in Melbourne’s west, who died after a long battle with prostate cancer.
The annual clash raises funds for the EJ Whitten Foundation, an organisation that aims to support men’s health awareness as well as raise money for prostate cancer research.
Earlier this year the WRFL hosted a themed EJ Whitten Men’s Health round. With best on ground players awarded with an EJ Whitten medal for their efforts.
Players also took part in a video encouraging the men in our community to take action about their health. You can watch the video here.
