A GRAND Final spot is on the line this Sunday, when Manor Lakes takes on Sunbury in this Senior Women’s Preliminary Final.
The Storm put up a gallant fight against Keilor at the weekend, but the Blues, who are undefeated in 2017, continued their winning ways, defeating Manor Lakes by 43-points at Burnside Heights.
The margin was just 11-points at half-time, with Manor Lakes very much in the contest, but the Blues came out firing in the third term kicking four goals to zero.
Manor Lakes managed to score just two behinds in the second half, falling short of causing an upset.
The final score was 7.10. (52) to 1.3. (9).
Tanay Barbuto kicked three goals, Brooke Todero also ended the game with two goals next to her name. Rachel Knight was named best on ground for Keilor.
Madisson Ahumada was the Storm’s only goal scorer.
Keilor have now earned the right to have the weekend off and will take on the either Manor Lakes or Sunbury in the Grand Final on August 20.
Meanwhile, the Lions kept their season alive with a win over Caroline Springs.
The Lakers led at the main break by a single point after a spirited first half, but couldn’t sustain the pressure for four quarters, losing by 30-points.
The margin could have been bigger if it wasn’t for Sunbury’s inaccuracy in front of goal, they had 20 shots on goal to Caroline Springs’ five.
Iesha Lauaki was Sunbury’s best player, while Krystyn Raymundo was the Lakers’ best.
This Sunday, Manor Lakes will take on Sunbury in the Preliminary Final. The game will be played at Dempster Park at 2.20pm. Entry is free.
The last time these two sides met, the Storm won by 56-points.
