THE possibility of senior football returning to Heathdale Oval in 2018 grows increasingly likely, with the Glen Orden Football Club announcing a new senior coach this week.
Phil Crea, a former Hawks player, has been picked to take the reins as senior coach.
Peter Macdonald and a team of club members have been working hard behind the scenes over the past few months and now with Phil’s appointment, the dream of senior footy returning to Glen Orden is fast becoming a reality.
Peter said he was extremely positive that the club would field seniors next year.
“We’ve had positive feedback over the past couple of months and since appointing a new coach there has been nothing but positive comments,” he said.
“Phil has played 400 or 500 senior games, he has been involved with footy for a long time. He has the passion and the right attitude.”
Phil said he was excited to be back involved with the Western Region Football League.
“I wanted to help out Glen Orden and get back involved with footy,” he said.
“We have spoken to some players that have previously been involved with Glen Orden, but we also understand that a lot of those players are at other clubs, so we are allowing them to concentrate on finishing their seasons first.”
