TARNEIT fought off a gallant North Sunshine, to score its 10th win of the season.
The Titans not only had to contend with a pesky Roadrunners side, they also had to deal with the windy and cold conditions which played havoc across the west on Saturday.
Tarneit was able to hold off a fast finishing North Sunshine, who kicked three goals to two in the last quarter.
The final score was Tarneit 12.3. (75) to North Sunshine 10.5. (65).
Aaron Molivas and Todd Lawrie both kicked three goals each in the 10-point win.
Eyob Gebreselassie booted three goals for the Roadrunners, Jackson Nawi was also among the best.
Jason Cloke added another nine goals to his goal kicking tally on Saturday after Parkside defeated Braybrook by 157-points.
An eight goal to one second quarter was the catalyst for the win.
The Magpies added another 18 goals to four in the second half.
Jack Collard kicked four goals, Aaron Gauci, Luke O’Farrell and Chris Muratore also kicked three goals apiece.
Sunshine Heights scored its third straight win on the weekend defeating Laverton by 99-points.
The win was the third time in as many weeks the Dragons has kicked a score of 120 or more.
James Vella kicked four goals in the 20.17. (137) to 5.8. (38) win.
Sunshine Heights will take on Tarneit this Saturday.
In the final match of the round, the Wyndham Suns defeated Sanctuary Lakes by 53-points.
The Suns kept the Sharks goalless in the first half, while they added eight goals. The margin could have been stretched further if they were accurate in-front of goals. At half-time it was 20 scoring shots to three.
Sanctuary Lakes fought back in the third quarter, holding the Suns to just one goal, but the scoreboard damage was already done.
The final score was 12.19. (91) to 5.8. (38).
Hayden Iannacone was best on ground for the Suns.
PARKSIDE POUNCE ON BRAYBROOK
By BEN CALDWELL – Division 3 Reserves
IT was a round of huge margins this week in the Division 3 Reserves, with all the games being decided by 70-points or more.
Following their momentous win last week, Braybrook were taken from joy to dismay when Parkside trounced them by 156-points. The Bombers could not manage a single score for the game, letting Parkside kick 23 goals.
Daniel Ferguson continued his run of form and Ryan Keenan stood out for the Magpies, kicking six goals.
Parkside showed dominance all over the ground, consistently winning contests in stoppages and in the air. Their movement has been superb all season, and they continue to use clinical passing going forward to open up easy opportunities in front of goal.
Sunshine Heights backed up their recent wins on Saturday with a commanding 113-point victory over the lowly Laverton. Vital forwards Matthew Sposato and Shadi Qunqar combined for 10 goals for the Dragons, tearing the Laverton defence apart. The Magpies managed just three goals as a team, and will need to improve considerably to notch another win before the end of the season.
In similar fashion, North Sunshine found just one major in their heavy 113-point loss to Tarneit. The Titans will be pleased to bounce back, particularly following their potentially season-defining loss to Wyndham last week.
Lawrence and Kepsner lead the way for the victors, while the reliable Kohinoa Fonua was notable for North Sunshine.
In the round’s closest game, the Suns claimed a comfortable 76-point win over Sanctuary Lakes.
Wyndham shared the load offensively, recording 10 different goalkickers from 15 team goals. The Sharks threatened in the second, and were less than three goals down at half-time, but nine consecutive goals in the third quarter put the Suns in the driver’s seat.
With just four weeks of the home and away season left, Round 15 will see Braybrook host the Suns at Pennell Reserve, while the battle of the Magpies goes down again with Parkside vs Laverton.
Tarneit will travel to Ainsworth Reserve to play Sunshine Heights, and Sanctuary Lakes will play North Sunshine at home.
