WITH the top five heavily congested, the Werribee Districts have strengthened their position after a 64-point win over finals aspirant Albion.
The final score was 13.19. (97) to 5.3. (33).
Overall it was the quality of the ball use and control of the centre square that saw Werribee comfortable victors at JR Parsons Reserve.
Jesse Pattison had the ball on a string in the first quarter, setting up the play forward of centre.
Albion on the other hand had huge issues exiting their defensive 50 as the Districts set up a brilliant zone to intercept every kick out.
Albion came out with more intensity in the second term which resulted in Daniel Rozenweig kicking the Cats first from a tight angle.
The Cats were able to transition the play much easier from their defensive 50 than the first quarter and made Werribee work hard to cause turnovers.
Despite the improvements, Werribee kicked a further three goals to two, to establish a 25-point lead at half-time.

Jayden Short's classy snap from the pocket had Albion within three goals, but that was as close as they would get for the remainder of the match as Werribee slammed five consecutive goals to give them a 53-point buffer at three quarter time.
Both sides traded goals in the final quarter, but it was Werribee Districts who had given Albion a lesson in what is needed to be a contender in this year’s Under-19 premiership race.
Werribee Districts, Jesse Pattison was the clear best on ground with three goals whilst Harley Kilby and Jy Lambley also had strong performances in the victory.
For the Cats, Corey Potter played a lone hand up forward and Soni Rainbow was admirable down back.
Hoppers Crossing defeated St Albans 13.16. (94) to 4.5. (29) with Lachlan Grant kicking seven goals.
Yarraville continued its march to the finals with a 94-point win over the Wyndham Suns. Newport forfeited the points to Caroline Springs and Wyndhamvale hammered Albanvale for their first win of the season, 30.10. (190) to 3.0. (18).
Altona accounted for Spotswood 12.13. (85) to 4.4. (28) to stay in the hunt for top spot.
Round 12 will see Altona travel down to Soldiers Reserve to face Werribee Districts, Caroline Springs take on Hoppers Crossing and Spotswood will play Albion. Yarraville face Wyndhamvale and Albanvale will host St Albans.
