NOMINATIONS are now open for the 2017 AFL Volunteer of the Year award.
Each league or club within Victoria is now invited to nominate an outstanding volunteer as part of the annual program.
The volunteer may have been involved with a significant project this season or it could be someone who has contributed to your club and league over a long period of time.
Both metropolitan and country winners will be invited to attend the AFL Victoria Community Football Awards night later this year.
The AFL Victoria Executive will then evaluate all the nominations and ultimately choose the AFL Victoria State Volunteer of the Year.
The winner will receive two tickets and an AFL Grand Final experience at the Toyota AFL Grand Final, accommodation for three nights in Melbourne for a Grand Final weekend (Thursday-Saturday) and the opportunity to walk in the Grand Final parade.
The selection criteria for the award is as follows:
- Must have given notable voluntary service to AustralianFootball.
- Must be a willing, voluntary contributor, having received no income from football (Note: honoraria excepted).
- Must be an ambassador for the game of football who acts and works for the best interest of the game, never bringing the game intodisrepute.
- Those making nominations should make no more than onenomination.
- Years of service given to a Club or League will be looked uponfavourably.
- Previous winners areineligible.
