PARKSIDE asserted itself as the team to beat in Division 3 this season, after a scoring a 19-point win over the Wyndham Suns at Goddard Street Reserve.
The Magpies were down by three points at the final break, but managed to put in a dominant display in the last term to score an important Round 3 victory.
Jason Cloke and Brent Kelly led the way for the visitors, kicking three goals apiece, however it was Joshua Shaw’s efforts across four quarters that gave him best on ground honours.
For the Wyndham Suns, Daniel Hovey was the star, he booted four goals.
Parkside’s third straight win sees them sit on top of the ladder. The team from Henry Turner Reserve are on equal points with Tarneit, who are also unbeaten in 2017.
The Titans defeated Braybrook by 98-points on Saturday.
It was a tight tussle in the opening quarter with only 11-points separating the two sides, however it was one-way traffic after quarter time with Tarneit kicking 17-goals to three.
Aaron Molivas kicked five goals while new recruits James Damjanovski and Drew Mitchell showed their class.
Sunshine Heights scored its first win of the season after defeating Sanctuary Lakes at Featherbrook Reserve.
After a sluggish start the Dragons soon took control of the match, scoring an important 30-point win.
Keelan Privitera was the main attraction up forward, he kicked nine goals for Sunshine Heights.
For the Sharks, it is back to the drawing board. Coach Darren Finlay would be disappointed with the result, especially after his side kicked 20 behinds for the match. The club will take on Braybrook this Saturday.
In the final match of the round, North Sunshine defeated Laverton under lights at Dempster Park on Saturday night.
It was an entertaining match, with the Roadrunners needing to kick three final quarter goals to win the match by 25-points.
Brad Dick continued his good form he kicked eight goals. North Sunshine will take on Parkside in Round 4.
PARKSIDE DEFEATS WYNDHAM SUNS IN DIVISION 3 RESERVES

It was a weekend of triples in the third round of the Division 3 reserves this week, leaving a trio of teams undefeated on top and a trio of teams winless.
In the match of the round, Parkside announced themselves as one of the competition leaders with a confident 51-point away win over the previously inform Wyndham Suns.
The Magpies looked in control all day, winning clearance after clearance and taking strong wins in marking contests, giving them a significant advantage in possession.
Trent Witton and Chris Hall were given plenty of opportunities up front, while Suns key forward Tyson Szkudlarski struggled to make the impact he has in previous games this season.
The Suns looked threatening throughout passages in the second and third quarter, and started to win some clearances in the fourth, however failed to put on scoreboard pressure. Parkside’s experience shone through in their ball usage and positioning, setting up well across half-forward and choking the Sun’s options moving forward.
In Sanctuary Lakes, Sunshine Heights notched their first win of the season, beating the Sharks by 58-points. The Dragons’ five-goal third quarter was a major factor as they ran away with the game.
Meanwhile, Tarneit continued their winning ways and propelled themselves to the top of the ladder with a massive 151-point thumping of Braybrook. The Bombers didn’t manage a goal for the whole game, while Tarneit piled on 21 – including eight goals in the final quarter.
Over at Dempster Park, North Sunshine held on to secure a 20-point win against Laverton in a close affair.
After scores were level at half time, Laverton failed to score a major in the last quarter, letting the Roadrunners close the match.
Round 4 will feature Sanctuary Lakes and Braybrook each looking to secure their first win, while the Wyndham Suns will look to bounce back from their disappointing week when they take on Sunshine Heights.
In Laverton, the Magpies will take on a dominant Tarneit, while North Sunshine and Parkside will go head-to-head.
