ROUND 1 of the inaugural Senior Women’s competition kicked off at the weekend, with three WRFL teams in action.
Played under lights at Howqua Reserve, Manor Lakes began their 2017 campaign in the best possible way, defeating VU Western Spurts by 119-points.
Kellee Mcintosh kicked five goals for the Storm, while Cara Dunshea bagged four goals of her own. But it was Rachel Doody’s efforts across the ground that gave her best on ground honours.
Tarneit hosted Glen Orden at Wootten Road Reserve on Sunday, in-front of a packed crowd.
Despite their best efforts, the Titans couldn’t match it with Glen Orden over four quarters, losing by 45-points to an impressive Hawks outfit.
Mereana Kelly kicked three goals for Glen Orden, Lindsay Tucker also kicked two goals.
For the home side, Lillian Thomas was named best on ground for her gritty performance.
In other results, Craigieburn defeated Pascoe Vale 8.8. (56) to 5.8. (38) and Keilor defeated Roxburgh Park 27.23. (185) to 0.0. (0).
Caroline Springs had a bye in the opening round, their first game will be against VU Western Spurs at Henry Turner Reserve on Sunday.
