Earlier this the club hosted a function at the Kooringal Golf Club in Altona, with portions of the events tickets as well money raised on the night, donated $2315.35 for the foundation.
As well as being one of the WRFL’s partners, the Altona Juniors decided to make the donation to EJ Whitten Foundation because of the work they do in the community.
EJ Whitten Foundation was formed in 1955 in memory of father Ted Whitten Snr.
The foundation is a leading player in the promotion of Men’s Health and Prostate Cancer awareness.
“We have had one of our Life Members diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, and has since been given the all clear,” Altona Juniors administrator Naomi Redpath said.
The Vikings presented Ted Whitten Jr and Mike Fitzgerald with a giant cheque at its Junior Presentation afternoon on Sunday.
“We wanted to thank the EJ Whitten Foundation for their support in assisting us with the items to auction,” Redpath said.
“We also want to thank those who attended the night as they were the key fundraisers and made the night a great success.
“It'll be on again next year. Bigger and better.”
