THE WRFL wishes to advise the outcome of an incident that occurred during the Under-15A Preliminary Final between Sanctuary Lakes (SLFC) and Werribee Districts (WDFC) on Sunday 31st July 2016.
During the third quarter (approximately 13.10 remaining) the WRFL field umpire was requested by the SLFC captain to perform a player count.
After following AFL Law 5.5, WDFC was recorded as having 19 players on the ground.
Rule 5.5.3 of the Laws of the Game states:-
Where a team has more than the permitted number of Players on the Playing Surface, the following shall apply:
(c) the team shall lose all points which it has scored in the Match up to the time of the count.
At the time of the count the scores were Werribee Districts 9.6.60 to Sanctuary Lakes 8.4.52.
As the count was deemed to be completed as per the Laws of the Game the final score for the match will be Sanctuary Lakes 11.7.73 defeated Werribee Districts 5.7.37.
The above result has been communicated to both clubs and has been amended on the WRFL website.
