GLEN Orden have experienced another disappointing loss for the season, after Caroline Springs defeated them at Heathdale Oval.
Caroline Springs dominated against the Hawks from the first bounce on Saturday, the Lakers only allowing the Hawks to score their one and only goal during the first quarter.
Best on ground, Jarrod Rowan was able to trail the ball constantly. He also scored a goal.
As the game progressed Caroline Springs never seemed to slow down, kicking goals upon goals, their worst quarter being the fourth, were they still were able to kick five goals.
The Lakers leading goal kicker Blake Richards kicked a massive seven goals during the match, although his teammate Michael Saker was not far behind him, kicking four goals for his team.
The Hawks’ best players included Michael Franklin and Eddie Bryson, but they couldn’t match it with two of the Lakers’ best players Stefan Caterino and Glenn Downs.
As disappointing as the loss was for the Hawks, the Lakers were all smiles leaving the ground, with the echoes of their team song heard across the ground.
Caroline Springs weren’t the only team who had a big win, with high scoring games happening across the board at the weekend.
Top team Yarraville Seddon have remained undefeated as they hosted the match against Manor Lakes, who were only able to score one goal for the match.
The final score was 22.25 (157) to 1.2 (8).
The Eagles had 13 different goal kickers for the match, with Dean McDonald leading the way with six goals.
Anthony Lane was the Storm’s only goal kicker.
In the final match of the round at Hansen Reserve, North Footscray defeated Albanvale by 121-points.
Brodie Oakford starred for the Devils with five goals. Matthew Walsh also booted four.
This round, Manor Lakes have a bye, while Glen Orden will travel to Robert Bruce Oval, as they take on Albanvale.
In the local derby down at Shorten Reserve, West Footscray and North Footscray will be going up against each other, with the Devil’s heading into that match as firm favourites.
The two top teams will also go head-to-head as Yarraville Seddon host Caroline Springs.
So far, the Eagles were the only team this season to defeat the Lakers.
Will Caroline Springs be able to make up for the last time these two sides met, or will Yarraville Seddon keep their undefeated status?
