THE Yarraville Seddon Eagles improved to 8-1 on the season with a dominant 69-point win over the visiting Manor Lakes Storm on Saturday.
The Eagles started off strong and never looked back, outscoring the visitors in every quarter and outplaying them all over the ground.
Yarraville Seddon received strong contributions from forward Joshua Crofton and versatile onballer Ben McCrorey, who led the team with five and three majors, respectively.
Manor Lakes, meanwhile, will have to go back to drawing board, suffering their seventh straight loss and falling to 1-9 in 2016.
Yarraville Seddon dominated the clearances from the get-go and hit targets up forward repeatedly through the opening term.
Yet despite the hot start, they failed to put Manor Lakes away early as they squandered a number of opportunities in front of goal.
Regardless, the Eagles took and 22-point lead into the first break, including a sensational snap late in the quarter from Mathew Cafaro to cap off an impressive start for the home team.
The second quarter played out much like the first, with Yarraville Seddon once again being first at the ball and putting tantalising pressure on the visitors every time they got their hands on the footy.
The Eagles found targets up forward with precision, yet were once again let down by their inaccuracy from set shots.
The Storm hit back with a late goal in the second, thanks a free kick down field to cut the margin to four goals. But just as it looked like the visitors were beginning to find momentum going into the main break, Yarraville Seddon would once again take control and extend the lead to 31-points at half-time.
Yarraville Seddon took little time reasserting their dominance over Manor Lakes in the third quarter, once again smashing them out of the centre and suffocating the visitors with their forward pressure.
They kicked 11 goals to six in the second-half en route to one of their most consistent performances of the season, which included a walloping 37 scoring shots to just 13 for Manor Lakes.
The visitors, meanwhile, despite being on the receiving end of another blowout, can take solace in the fact they were accurate in front of goal when they had their chances.
However, their inability to win the contested ball once again cost them.
They're currently second last on the ladder, only sitting above the lowly West Footscray while Yarraville Seddon remain strong at second place, trailing only North Footscray by percentage.
In other games, North Footscray moved to 8-1 on the season with another strong performance all-round over Albanvale to the tune of 120-points. Elsewhere, Caroline Springs were led by a sizzling Mathew Sutton who finished the game with eight goals and helped his side to a 64-point win over Glen Orden.
