MANOR Lakes have experienced a shocking upset at their home ground, after Albanvale stormed home to win by seven points.
Manor Lakes dominated the first half, keeping possession of the ball for majority of the play and scoring 6 goals to the Cobra’s 2.
As the third quarter began, Albanvale began to fire up, whilst Manor Lakes started to slow down.
The Cobras kept the Storm to one goal as their defence were able to keep control of the play even though the ball was in the Storm’s forward fifty for most of the quarter.
Both teams started the fourth quarter with determination, however it was Albanvale who were able to follow through where it counted and kick the goals that they needed.
With seven minutes to go, the match was paused as Albanvale player went in for a contested mark and was knocked unconscious.
The match was able to continue after 25 minutes, Albanvale rallied together for the last seven minutes of play, and were able to defeat Manor Lakes.
Yarraville Seddon have experienced another home ground win and continue to be undefeated, as they won against West Footscray, 17.21. (123) to 2.1. (13).
Michael Volpi starred for the Eagles, kicking six goals. Jack Hargreaves also kicked four goals.
North Footscray have also been able to experience a home ground win, as they defeated Glen Orden at Hansen Reserve, winning 15.10 (100) to 3.4 (22).
Brodie Oakford was the leading goal scorer for the Devils, while Beau Bostock kicked all three of the Hawks’ goals.
With Caroline Springs sitting out for their bye, they have lost their position in first place on the ladder and now sit third, with Yarraville Seddon leading and North Footscray sitting in a close second.
This round, in what is looking to be a close match, Caroline Springs and North Footscray will go head-to-head at Town Centre Oval in Caroline Springs.
Yarraville Seddon will be making their way down to Heathdale Oval, as they prepare to play Glen Orden.
The Eagles are favourites to win, but the Hawks have been playing much tougher football this season and will be ready for whatever the Eagles throw at them.
At Shorten Reserve, West Footscray will be taking on Manor Lakes, the Roosters had to forfeit last time they were supposed to meet due to not having enough players, so it will be interesting to see how these two teams match up against each other.
