FOOTBALL communities across the Victoria, including the Western Region Football League, will celebrate and recognise the important role umpires play this weekend as part of the 2016 Community Umpiring Round.
Celebrated from May 13 to 15, the aim of the dedicated round is to recognise the work of the boundary, goal and field umpires.
The round is supported by the AFL and is designed to help teach the footy world about the roles and responsibilities of umpires as well as remind all players, supporters, coaches and parents to take responsibility of their behaviour on match day.
Community Umpire Round is also another opportunity to encourage those who want to be involved in the sport, to take up umpiring.
If anyone is interested in take up umpiring in the WRFL they can contact the office on 9315 5400.
