TARNEIT’S unbeaten run in the Division 3 Reserves competition continued in Round 5, with the Titans claiming an impressive 68-point victory over Sunshine Heights.
The two clubs squared-off at Wootten Road Reserve on Saturday.
After a tight first quarter, Tarneit was able to take control of the match, taking an unassailable 35-point lead into the half-time break.
The Titans continued to pressure their opposition, with the Dragons kept scoreless in the second term.
It was more of the same in the second half for Tarneit.
The Titans kicked six goals to two, winning by 68-points and retaining second spot on the WRFL ladder.
Samuel Ingham was a stand-out for the home side, he booted six goals, while Troy Whiting added three goals of his own.
Reigning premiers, the Wyndham Suns, have also picked up from where they left off last season.
Their winning streak now sits at 12 games after they defeated Laverton 12.7. (79) to 4.4. (28).
It was a low scoring affair in the first quarter, with both teams struggling to find their feet.
However after the first break, the game opened up, with the Suns kicking 11-goals to three to blast their way to a 51-point win.
The win sets up a cracking Round 6 match between the Suns and Parkside, who are also undefeated in 2016.
Parkside are the ladder-leaders and look to be the team to beat after the first five rounds.
The Magpies are an attacking machine, kicking a total of 464-points from their four matches.
In other results, North Sunshine scored its first win of the season, after defeating Braybrook by 54-points at Pennell Reserve.
The Brookers were ready to fire from the first bounce and after a hotly contested first 25 minutes, managed to hold on to an early four point lead.
However, North Sunshine kept Braybrook scoreless in the second quarter and was able to take a firm grip on the match after they booted four goals.
In the end, the Roadrunners proved to be too strong, claiming an important win.
Eyob Gebreselassie and Madison Bell were key players for North Sunshine, they kicked three goals apiece.
In the final game of the round, Sanctuary Lakes came back from two goals down at three quarter time to defeat Newport Power by 12-points.
It was a see-soaring affair for most of the match, with the lead changing hands several times throughout the game.
However, it was the Sharks who had more bite in the final quarter, scoring four goals to one, to win 8.11. (59) to 6.11. (47).
