By DAYLE DUNSHEA - Division 2 Reserves
MANOR Lakes experienced another home ground loss at the weekend, losing to one of the Division 2 Reserve contenders in North Footscray.
From the first bounce, the undefeated Devils dominated Manor Lakes, with the Storm scoring just the one goal for the match, while their opposition booted a massive 24 goals.
The majority of the game seemed to take place in the Devil’s forward, with players such as Daniel Neville and Christopher Peters making sure the ball stayed there.
North Footscray’s Joel Richardson continued his good start to 2016, booting another four goals in the Round 5 match.
He currently sits on top of the goal kicking leaderboard, with team-mate Harley Patterson in second spot with 18 goals.
Patterson was the leading scorer in the match against Manor Lakes kicking seven goals in the big win.
The loss is a disappointing one for Manor Lakes who have scored just the one win in 2016. Their finals dreams are fading quickly.
If the team can turn its form around quickly, they could find themselves playing finals football.
Storm players Corey Jennings and Aaron Bradley were a couple of the Storm’s best on the day, but as hard as they played, it wasn’t enough to stop the unstoppable Devils.
North Footscray would be happy with how they played and will be keen to keep this streak alive, by continuing to play hard and fair footy.
At Robert Bruce Oval, Caroline Springs scored its third win for the season, and are sitting in third position after defeating Albanvale.
Glen Orden put another win on the scoreboard, after defeating West Footscray at Shorten Reserve.
The Hawks won 5.5. (35) to 11.21. (87).
Yarraville Seddon are heading to Robert Bruce Oval, where they will take on Albanvale after having the bye at the weekend.
The Eagles have been playing consistent football this season, and are also undefeated, which puts them as firm favourites to win against the Cobras.
Caroline Springs will be hosting West Footscray today, the Roosters are the only team who have yet to win a match in 2016.
The local derby will see Glen Orden and Manor Lakes match up against each other at Heathdale Oval.
The last time these two teams met was the last match of the home and away season last year.
The Hawks dominated that match.
North Footscray has the bye in Round 6.
