ALBION have rocketed to a two and zero start on the back of a resounding 114-point win over Sanctuary Lakes at JR Parsons Reserve.
The final score was 19.14. (128) to 2.2. (14).
The pressure from both sides was impressive in first 10 minutes of the opening quarter, but Albion's class came to the fore and never looked back.
James Leach was busy with two goals, and several leads.
Cooper Muir was solid all day dominating the ruck duel giving his midfielders first use of the ball more often than not, with his team-mates taking full advantage using the corridor and hitting targets on the lead inside 50 with clinical ball use.
Jacob Tonkinson controlled the defence, crashing packs and set up the play in an impressive performance.
Sanctuary Lakes started off well in the second quarter with Luke Duskovic trying hard, but Albion took complete control at the midway point of the term slamming five more majors including a soccer goal from the goal line from James Leach who had five to half time.
The third quarter was hotly contested and a real arm wrestle for the majority of the term with only one goal kicked until the deadlock was broken by a Jacob Tonkinson set shot from 50 metres and a third added a minute later.
Albion kicked five goals in the last quarter, but probably felt they could've had more after dominating the clearances.
For Albion, James Leach was easily best on ground with a dominant eight goal display, Jacob Tonkinson, Jack Headly and Thomas Addison all played their roles to perfection.
Brendan Chiem backed up last week’s fighting effort with Mitchel Grima, Luke Coleiro and Luke Duskovic being the bests for Sanctuary Lakes.
The second and last game for the weekend was a rematch from last year’s Under-18 Division 2 Grand Final at Price Reserve between Werribee Districts and Newport Power.
In a tightly contested match it was a different margin, but the same result with Newport getting the points 5.15 (45) to 5.4. (34).
For Werribee, Matthew Currao booted two goals and was one of their best, as was Joshua Snow and and Alexander Psarros with Stephen Siale rounding out the goal kickers.
Newports Bashir Zahraman had two goals being supported with singles to Mitchell Taleb, Jehad Haddara and Abdul Abdo. Khaled Hawli was prominent all game.
Round 3 will see both undefeated sides in Albion and Newport Power clash at Bryan Martin Oval and Sanctuary Lakes play their first home game of the season against Wyndhamvale.
