FORMER WRFL junior Naomi Ferres was selected by the Western Bulldogs with Pick 3 in today’s AFLW Rookie Draft.
Ferres played with the Werribee Centrals from Under-10’s through to Under-14’s.
The talented young star then went to Wyndhamvale, playing four seasons with the Falcons.
In 2012 she was a member of the WRFL’s Youth Girls team during the Junior Championships and in 2015 won the Under-18 Girls Best and Fairest award.
For the past two years, Ferres has been playing with the VU Western Spurs in the VFL Women’s competition.
“A huge congratulations to former Wyndhamvale Youth Girl, Naomi Ferres for being drafted to the Western Bulldogs AFLW team with pick #3 in today's AFLW Rookie Draft,” Wyndhamvale Football Club’s Facebook post stated.
“We can't wait to see Naomi take to the field in the red, white, and blue.
“Naomi is the second Wyndhamvale female player to be drafted into the AFLW, after Jess Cameron was selected by Collingwood in 2016.”
Ferres will be joined by Isabel Huntington and Monique Conti at the Kennel after the pair were drafted with Picks 1 and 4 in Wednesday’s Draft.
Huntington and Conti played in the WRFL/EDFL combined girls competition last season.
