THOSE who knew Bachar Houli when he was running around McLean Reserve as a Spotswood junior knew that something special would be on the horizon for the talented star.
This Saturday, Houli’s dream of playing on the biggest stage in the last Saturday in September will come true when Richmond take on Adelaide in the 2017 AFL Grand Final.
During Houli’s time with the Woodsman was special he won three junior best and fairest awards. The Under-12A award in 2000, the Under-13A award in 2001 and the Under-14A Best and Fairest in 2003.
He won several junior premierships and was named captain of the 2004 Under-16 Vic Metro team.
The young gun was recruited to Essendon with 42nd pick in the 2006 National Draft.
He played 26 games at the Bombers before being traded to Richmond, where he has played for the past seven years.
Houli has played a pivotal role for the Tigers this season, he has averaged 23 disposal per game and 3.5 tackles.
Earlier this year he played his 150th AFL game, with many of his teammates declaring he is one of the most damaging players in the team.
In the Preliminary Final, he finished the game with 21 touches, seven marks and one tackle.
On Saturday, Richmond will take on Adelaide in the Grand Final. It is the first time the Tigers have played in the decider of the year in 35 years.
