The Western Region Football League has completed its investigation and subsequent independent tribunal hearings into matters arising from the Albion vs Point Cook Under 15 Division 2 Grand Final on Sunday August 13.
In issuing its determinations, the Independent Tribunal handed down a cumulative total of 50 matches in suspensions. In addition, three individuals received life bans from the game. Albion Football Club was fined $25,000 as part of a non-posted three-year bond, and further fines totalling $1,800 were issued relating to behaviour on the day.
Albion Football Club has engaged the Les Twentyman Foundation as support throughout and post the investigation, as well as establishing other avenues of care for those within the club. The league is encouraged by the club’s strong response since the events of August 13, and will continue to support the club through a range of initiatives it is implementing ahead of the 2018 season.
The WRFL Board takes this opportunity to reaffirm its zero tolerance approach to behaviour that harms the reputation of the league and the countless majority who contribute to the WRFL community.
