THE St Albans Football Club have appointed Brad Murphy as its new senior playing coach for 2018.
Murphy replaces Fab Carelli, who has been at the helm for the past two seasons.
Murphy has a long history with the Western Region Football League, both as a player and as a coach.
The former Western Bulldogs player has been involved with the Hoppers Crossing Football Club, there he claimed the 2008 club best and fairest award and was also named in the Division 1 Team of the Year during his time at Hogans Road Reserve.
Murphy captained Hoppers Crossing between 2010 and 2013 and coached the Under-18 side to three consecutive flags between 2011 and 2013.
Murphy then moved across to the Ballarat Football League in 2014. Where he has both coached and played with the Melton Football Club.
Joining Murphy as an assistant coach is one of St Albans’ favourite sons, Damien Fitzpatrick.
Fitzpatrick is a former club captain and is a member of their team of the decade.
“His knowledge of the game and our club will no doubt be a positive and we look forward in having both work with our current and new players for season 2018,” the statement on the St Albans Facebook page stated.
