KEILOR has capped off an incredible undefeated season, claiming the inaugural WRFL/EDFL Senior Women’s premiership on Sunday.
The Blues defeated Manor Lakes by 75-points at Greenvale Reserve.
Keilor, led by coach Emma Kerry, controlled the match from the first bounce to the final siren.
Keilor was able to weather the Storm in the early stages of the first quarter, with Manor Lakes applying a lot of pressure on the ball carrier. However they couldn’t sustain that pressure for four quarters and at half-time, Keilor had established an unassailable 50-point lead.
Manor Lakes’ best quarter was its last, kicking two goals.
The final siren sparked celebrations from players, the coaching staff and supporters watching on the sidelines.
The final score was Keilor 15.7. (97) to Manor Lakes 3.4. (22). Kallyn Gent was named best on ground for her consistent performance throughout the match.
Jess Atta and Tenille Cann both booted four goals each in the win. Tanay Barbuto was also damaging up-forward, she kicked two goals.
After the game, Manor Lakes coach Nathan Smithwick said he was proud of his team’s achievements this season and said all of his players should walk away from the match with their heads held high.
